In Memoriam |
Geoffrey lived a full and happy life, and was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survived by his wife Janet of 63 years, 6 children, Steven, Susan, Catherine, Victoria, Helen and Timothy, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren (and still counting!)
Geoffrey attended Eversfield Preparatory School in Solihull from the age of 4 until he was 13 years old. He was then a pupil at Trent College from 1953 to 1957. He remembered his interview to join the school was held a few days before the Queen’s Coronation, as they had built huge bonfire stacks in preparation for the celebrations. Geoff was a boarder in Hanbury House, until he left at the age of 17. He particularly loved his sports and joined the hockey, athletics, cricket and rugby teams, and he was drum major in the Combined Cadet Force school band.
When he left Trent College, he joined Peter Windle & Co (Chartered Accountants) and worked there until he was 20 years old. He then joined the family business, Cleenol Group Ltd, as an accountant. It was during this time that Geoffrey joined several sports clubs including Olton cricket, tennis and hockey clubs, remaining with them for many years and during later years. He loved playing golf.
One of a multigenerational family to attend Trent College, Geoffrey was an active member of the Old Tridents Society and took part in various Old Tridents Gold Society golfing tournaments over the years.
He is remembered by his family and friends as a lovely man, and he will be missed greatly.
Our thanks to his son Steven, (Hanbury, class of '78) for this obituary tribute. Our condolences go to him and the rest of the family.
