Time and talent, sharing experience and expertise, successes and challenges with Trent College pupils is one of the most rewarding ways of giving back to your school.
And, coming soon to Careers Connect, you can explore the careers network, join our mentoring programme, receive vacancy notifications and explore networking opportunities to help you go further.
Supporting the work of the school’s dedicated Careers department and assisting pupils and young alumni with their career aspirations is one of the most rewarding ways to give back to your school. Whether it be a year group talk, one to one interview practice or the offer of a work experience placement, you can inspire the next generation to prepare for their bright future.
When Old Tridents return to Trent College to give a careers talk, they offer something uniquely powerful: real-life insight, inspiration, and relatability. Hearing from someone who once sat where they are now helps pupils connect classroom learning to future possibilities. Whether sharing a straight path or a winding journey, your experience and sector knowledge gives pupils the confidence to explore, ask questions, and make informed choices about their next steps.
Talks are hosted virtually and in person and can involve a whole year group or a career interest audience of varying ages.
Research by University Alliance (2024) highlights that employers increasingly prioritise work experience when hiring, especially for early-career roles. For pupils at Trent, gaining insight into the workplace supports their applications for university, apprenticeships, and employment by developing confidence, skills, and clarity about future pathways.
We’re inviting Old Tridents to play a meaningful role in this process by offering work placements, from a single day to a full week (or more, by arrangement). Your support can make a lasting difference at a crucial time.
