Founded and solely owned by Old Trident Dan Miller (Class of 2016) Young Professionals has spent the past decade building a powerful network designed to support students and young professionals as they navigate the transition from education into employment. With a focus on improving access to opportunities regardless of socioeconomic background, YP provides apprenticeship, graduate, work experience opportunities and connections with leading employers across the UK and Ireland.

Young Professionals bridges the gap between education and employment for students across the UK and Ireland

Dan established Young Professionals whilst still a student at Trent College, driven by a deep awareness of the challenges many young people face when seeking meaningful career opportunities. Inspired by a belief that every student should have the chance to achieve their ambitions, he set out to create a platform provides practical support to those seeking direction and opportunity.

“I will always be grateful for my time at Trent and when I can, will always give back to the school”

Today, Young Professionals works with some of the world’s most respected organisations including Linklaters, Goldman Sachs, PwC, KPMG and Lloyds Banking Group, creating pathways into professional careers for students from a wide range of backgrounds.

The partnership represents a natural alignment with Trent College’s commitment to supporting young people in developing confidence, ambition and purpose beyond their school years. Young Professionals’ mission to foster social mobility and inclusivity reflects values that continue to shape the Trent community today.

“His generosity in supporting our students reflects a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.”

Dan has remained closely connected to the school since leaving, generously offering his time to speak with current students about his own journey to business success, and offering guidance on career pathways such apprenticeships, mentoring and work experience programs and the significance of gaining skills for professional development. His willingness to share his experience reflects a genuine commitment to helping future generations make informed and confident decisions about their futures:

“Trent College has played a huge part in my life growing up, having had a fantastic education as well as being able to develop my skills more broadly is what’s shaped me being into the businessman that I am today. Working hard, treating people with respect and integrity and never giving up on something I believe in. I will always be grateful for my time at Trent and when I can, will always give back to the school.”

Supporting the next generation of professionals

Many in the Trent community will also have followed Dan’s progress in the current series of BBC’s The Apprentice, where he has demonstrated resilience, determination and belief in his business to reach the Final Five interview stage, which airs this evening (Thursday 9 April 2026).  His participation in the process so far is a powerful example of entrepreneurial ambition combined with a desire to create positive impact for others.

The Trustees of the OT Society are extremely grateful for Young Professionals support of the Annual Dinner, which in 2026 marks a landmark year for the school, celebrating 160 years since foundation, 150th anniversary of the Chapel and 50 years since girls first joined the pupil community.

Jo Slater, Trent College Alumni Office, says: “We are incredibly proud of everything Dan has achieved since his time at Trent College, and it has been a pleasure to see him remain so closely connected to the school community. His generosity in giving his time to support our students, alongside his decision to support the OT Society’s Homecoming Annual Dinner as Headline Sponsor, reflects a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. The Annual Dinner is all about bringing our Old Trident and wider school community together, and we are very grateful to Dan for playing such an important role in making this year’s event possible.”

“Bringing our alumni community together across generations.”
