The Old Tridents Society Annual Dinner brought together members of the Trent College community for a memorable evening of good company, shared memories and plenty of entertainment, with special guest host Myleene Klass MBE adding her own touch of fun and frivolity to the occasion.
After three years of annul dinner events held at venues including The Chatsworth Estate, House of Commons and HRP Tower of London, the Trustees of the OT Society returned to Trent for the 2026 'Homecoming' Dinner.
The evening began in the school Chapel, where guests were welcomed by music performed by Trent musicians. As they took in their surroundings, many were reminded of their own school days, setting the tone for an evening that celebrated both the history of Trent and the friendships that continue long after leaving school.
Earlier in the evening, Myleene had spent time with Trent music pupils, who performed for her in the Chapel and had the opportunity to chat with her about their musical aspirations. It was a lovely opportunity for members of the Music School to share their talents with an accomplished musician and performer.
From the Chapel, guests made their way along the corridor to the Devonshire Library, the school's original dining hall, for a drinks reception. Year 12 musician Roddy provided the soundtrack, singing and accompanying himself on guitar, before a fanfare from Trent musicians playing from the mezzanine level signalled that it was time for dinner.
Guests then crossed the school terrace, atmospherically lit for the occasion, to the Obolensky Dining Hall, where a three-course dinner awaited.
As ever, one of the most important parts of the OT Society Annual Dinner was bringing people together. The seating plan had been thoughtfully arranged to help guests find common ground, whether through their years at Trent, shared interests or experiences. It was particularly pleasing to hear how much guests appreciated this, with conversations flowing, new friendships beginning and old friends enjoying the opportunity to catch up.
For many, the evening was a reminder of what makes the Trent community special: connections that endure, generations of shared experiences and a genuine interest in the people who make up the school community.
Myleene Klass MBE proved a wonderfully entertaining host, bringing humour, warmth and plenty of audience participation to the evening. She soon had guests involved in a lively game of Heads and Tails, with much laughter around the room, before taking her place at the grand piano.
There was a particular request from one guest, who had recently seen Myleene's social media post demonstrating her remarkable party trick of playing the piano backwards. Having spotted the video, they had asked whether she would perform it for the dinner audience. Myleene duly obliged, giving guests a memorable moment to enjoy.
Her performance was a highlight of the evening, combining her considerable musical talent with the easy humour and spontaneity that made her such an engaging presence.
The formal proceedings also included speeches from OT Society President Dominic Kalantary and Trent's new Head, Dr Leo Dudin, who joined guests in celebrating the strength of the school's alumni community and the enduring relationship between Trent and its former pupils.
Before leaving, Myleene took time to work her way around the room, chatting to guests and enjoying the atmosphere. She was clearly struck by the strong sense of community among Trent's alumni, something that was palpable throughout the evening.
From the music in the Chapel to the laughter around the dinner tables, the OT Society Annual Dinner was a fitting celebration of the friendships, memories and shared experiences that connect the Trent community.
Dominic Kalantary, President of the OT Society: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many guests back to Trent and to see old friendships renewed and new connections made. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such an enjoyable and successful evening. We are now looking forward to planning next year’s event, which will return to London”.
We look forward to finding out more about what the Trustees of the Old Tridents Society plan for next year’s event, which we are sure will be another exciting exclusive London venue!
