There’s nothing quite like A Level Results Day, a heady mix of excitement, relief, and pride, and for us, the perfect opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Class of 2025.
The last time we’d seen them before today was at the end of the summer term, following the end of their exams, when they were in full ‘rite of passage’ mode, enjoying their leavers’ events. The Leavers' Summer Ball was a fantastic evening, giving everyone the chance to get dressed up and enjoy an evening with parents and staff on the dancefloor!
Then followed a trip to Alton Towers, a sunny evening BBQ where they received their leavers’ gifts, presented on behalf of the school and OT Society. The boys then went head-to-head with staff in the annual cricket match (a fiercely contested but good-natured affair), and the year group then closed their school year in style at the Trent Renowned Strawberries Concert, which this year marked its 35th anniversary!
Their formal farewells came during Speech Day & Prize Giving on 6 July, where we celebrated their academic achievements and contributions to school life, before gathering for the Leavers’ Chapel Service and a lunch with students, parents, governors, staff, and guests.
Fast forward to this morning, and the excitement was back as our Class of 2025 returned to campus to collect their results, and they did not disappoint. An impressive 35.9% of all entries were graded A or A*, 68% achieved A–B*, and we are proud to have a 100% pass rate across A Levels, BTECs, and the EPQ.
Among the many standout individual successes:
Kareena Gandhi, Head of School, achieved 1 A* and 2 As (Economics, Physics, Mathematics) plus an A in her EPQ, securing her place to read Management (Accounting and Finance) at the University of Manchester. “I’m really happy. Trent is special because of the care shown by the teachers, something I’ve always appreciated. My lasting memory of being here will be all the opportunities I’ve been given. CCF, DofE, my EPQ, that’s why I really love Trent because you can achieve results and do so much more, as well as having all the care from your teachers.”
Daniel Conway, Senior Prefect, gained 2 A*s and 1 A (German, Mathematics, Physics) alongside an A in his EPQ, and will read Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton. “I’m so pleased. I can’t believe I’ve been at Trent for 11 years, I’ve really enjoyed my time here and it’s felt like home. It will be strange to not return in September but I’m looking forward to going to Southampton.”
Russell Carmichael, Leicester Tigers Academy player and Senior Prefect, achieved 1 A* and 2 As (Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics) and will read Economics at the University of Nottingham. “I’ve achieved what I expected and that was down to some really hard work and the support of the teachers who you get to build good personal relations with. Now I will go on to read Economics at Nottingham.”
Maia Gormley and Yusef Al-Habaideh both achieved an incredible 4 A*s, Maia in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, and Further Mathematics, and Yusef in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Further Mathematics. Yusef will now study Medicine and he told us: “I’m thrilled to have achieved four A* grades at A Level. It still doesn’t feel real. It has been a challenging but rewarding journey, and I’m grateful for the support and encouragement from my parents. I’m proud to be one of two students to have achieved four A*s. Never give up on your dreams and always trust your abilities.”
Henry Crocker, also a senior prefect, secured 2 A*s and 2 As (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics) and will read Chemical Engineering and said: “My time at Trent has been excellent and I’ve especially enjoyed all the co-curricular opportunities open to me. I feel confident and excited about my future”.
Nikhil Bhanot achieved 2 A* and 1 A (Chemistry, Biology, Maths) and A* in his EPQ, and will now study Medicine at Liverpool. Nikhil said, “I am really pleased and want to thank all the teachers for their support to help me achieve this. I’m so happy with the results and my time here.”
In the BTEC pathway, George achieved a Distinction* in Level 3 Business and a Distinction in National Diploma in Sport, alongside an A Level in Geography, and will now head to Australia to play cricket in Melbourne.
With results like these, the Class of 2025 leave us not just with impressive grades, but with the confidence, resilience, and friendships that will last a lifetime. They have been a vibrant part of our school community, from the sports pitches to the stage, from leadership roles to quiet acts of kindness and we can’t wait to see what they will go on to achieve.
Of course, today also marks their official welcome into our global OT community, now strengthened by 101 new members. Wherever they go next, whether university, apprenticeship, work, travel and adventure, they will always remain part of the Trent family. We are looking forward to seeing many of them at the upcoming OT Society London Dinner next month, taking place at the Tower of London!
Congratulations, Class of 2025. You’ve made your mark, and we couldn’t be prouder.
