The Old Tridents Golf Society proudly celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, marking eight decades of camaraderie, sporting endeavour and enduring ties between past pupils of Trent. Since being reconstituted in 1946, the Society has brought together generations of Old Tridents through a shared love of golf and a deep affinity with the values instilled at Trent College.
Central to the Society’s story is its long and proud involvement in the prestigious Halford Hewitt tournament, widely regarded as the pinnacle of amateur public school golf. Year after year, Old Tridents have represented Trent with distinction at Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports, combining competitive ambition with the spirit of sportsmanship that has defined the Society since its earliest days.
Over the past 80 years, the Old Tridents Golf Society has been about far more than competition alone. Regular fixtures, annual meetings and social gatherings have fostered lifelong friendships and strengthened bonds across generations, creating a welcoming and inclusive community for golfers of all abilities.
As the Society marks this significant milestone, it also looks firmly to the future. With continued strong support for the Halford Hewitt and a renewed commitment to encouraging younger Old Tridents to get involved, the Society remains dedicated to preserving its heritage while embracing the next chapter of its history.
The 80th anniversary is a celebration of past achievements, present friendships and future aspirations; a fitting tribute to a Society that has proudly carried the Old Tridents name for eight remarkable decades.
