This summer has been one of the hottest festival seasons on record, and not just for the weather! Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Pia Rose has been making waves performing on two of the season’s most exciting line-ups, featuring headliners such as Pulp, Kasabian, The Prodigy and Madness.

On 27 July, she took to the stage at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield with Ted Mitchell, frontman of Minds Idle and a previous winner of Truck Festival’s esteemed Band App competition.

A few days later, on 1 August, she took to the stage at Y NOT Festival in Derbyshire with John Dell, lead guitarist of DECO, who have previously supported Nile Rodgers, Boy George and Jess Glynne. Both performances saw Pia Rose unveil new music to audiences for the first time.

“It means a lot to debut my music so close to home” Pia told us earlier in the summer.

Her festival appearances add to an already remarkable performance résumé, which includes global stages such as Shanghai Symphony Hall, Sagrada Família, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Southbank Centre and the London Jazz Festival. A Guildhall School of Music and Drama graduate (Masters in Composition with Distinction) and University of Cambridge alumna, Pia’s career spans all corners of the arts. Now based in London, she has composed music for members of Britten Sinfonia and the London Symphony Orchestra, alongside collaborating with organisations including Immediate Theatre, Company 3 and the Almeida Theatre to create music for educational tools, audio dramas and stage plays.

When she’s not composing or performing, Pia works as a Festival Coordinator for some of the UK’s largest music events, leading on community projects and grassroots talent development initiatives in addition to being an accessibility and sustainability lead.

With her upcoming EP on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be a defining year for Pia Rose and we can’t wait to hear what she does next.

“Having the opportunity to play these stages after years of hard work and creative growth feels so surreal. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a festival crowd - it’s magic. It reminded me why I love performing.”
