We are proud to celebrate Flight Lieutenant Rob Thomas (Wortley 1995-2001) who has achieved his lifelong dream of joining the Red Arrows as Red 2 for the 2025 display season.

Flt Lt Thomas first saw the Red Arrows at age 11, sparking his passion for aviation.

At Trent College he was an active member of the Combined Cadet Force, gaining early flying experience at RAF Newton. He later studied aeronautical engineering at Loughborough University and joined the RAF in 2006.

His career has taken him worldwide, flying the RAF’s Typhoon aircraft on operations, serving as a qualified flying instructor, and training pilots in Saudi Arabia. His persistence through multiple attempts led to his selection for the Red Arrows in May 2024.

Now a father of two, he hopes to inspire future generations to consider military aviation. We congratulate Flt Lt Thomas on his success and look forward to following his journey.
